A dictionary or encyclopedia can be used to define a certain subject. A definition essay provides a more personal description by
identifying the subject on the writer's point of view. The subject of the definition essay can be concrete (tangible objects) or abstract (intangible objects).
When you write a definition essay using a concrete subject, you can classify from which group that subject belongs. Define the source
of the object and its physical characteristics. Focus on the big and small details that describe the subject through you own conception.
The reader should be able to visualize clearly what was described.
Abstract subjects are more complicated as they can be interpreted in different ways. Note all the words that you may connect with the subject and analyze them.
Define some examples or their effects to fully understand the meaning that you want to impart in the definition essay.
